REPLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING 3-SEAT GONDOLA LIFT WITH A NEW 4-SEAT GONDOLA LIFT

INVESTOR: City of Zagreb

LOCATION: Crveni spust Sljeme, Zagreb

SERVICE: Construction supervision

The planned intervention envisages the construction of a new detachable-grip four-seat gondola lift to replace the existing three-seat lift on the same route. The new gondola lift is designed as a modern transport system intended for safer, faster, and more comfortable passenger conveyance, with a capacity of at least 2,000 passengers per hour. The system consists of a lower return station and an upper drive station, with no intermediate stations, whereby the equipment and technological solutions ensure continuous operation, safe boarding and alighting, and system stability under demanding climatic conditions.

The existing three-seat gondola lift achieved a broadly comparable capacity, but was designed to older technical standards, with limitations in terms of speed, ergonomics, and energy efficiency. The new four-seat gondola lift covers the same section of less than one kilometre with a pronounced elevation difference and slope gradient characteristic of mountain transport, but introduces more advanced detachable-grip technology, faster cabin throughput, and a higher level of reliability.

The installation of new equipment raises the level of safety, comfort, and accessibility for end users, reduces operational costs, facilitates easier maintenance, and aligns the gondola lift system with current European technical standards for passenger ropeways. The project thus represents the modernisation of key mountain infrastructure and a prerequisite for enhancing the quality of tourism and sports offerings.
