ENERGY RENOVATION OF IVAN KOZARAC PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ŽUPANJA

INVESTOR: Ivan Kozarac Primary School Županja

LOCATION: Dr. F. Račkog 30, Županja

SERVICE: Construction supervision

The school building was constructed in 1975, while the sports hall was added as an extension in 1983, in accordance with the main design documentation and building permits of the time. The complex is organised as a unified functional entity in which the school building has a ground floor and first floor (G and G+1), while the sports hall is a single-storey structure, with the two connected by an internal circulation corridor. The structural system of the school section is based on reinforced concrete columns with block-brick infill and reinforced concrete intermediate floor slabs, while the sports hall employs a combination of reinforced concrete and façade masonry walls with a timber roof structure supported by glued laminated timber beams. The foundations are constructed as strip footings of compacted concrete.

The energy renovation project envisages a comprehensive improvement of technical system efficiency, including the installation of an air-to-water heat pump as a renewable energy source, installation of condensing gas boilers for heating, a condensing system for domestic hot water preparation, storage tanks for the accumulation of heating and domestic hot water, and the replacement and supplementation of radiator equipment. In part of the building, existing radiators are being replaced, while in another section of the school, thermostatic valves are being installed on existing heating elements, thereby achieving more precise temperature control and reduced energy losses. The sports hall is being equipped with a designed ventilation and air conditioning system, and the entire facility is being fitted with a building automation and management system for the monitoring and optimisation of energy consumption.
